Mauritius - Annual Disability Day 2023
Eventful weekend on Disability Day 2023.
The Sri Sathya Sai Overseas Organisation Mauritius organised its annual Disability day on Sunday 1 October 2023 throughout the island. This event proved to be a success as it showed commitment and support of the organisation towards disabled brothers and sisters.
Region 1 - Savanne organised 2 events on this occasion namely a visit to the 60 students at the Southern Handicap School on Friday 29 September 2023 in the coastal village of Riambel and a door-to-door visit to 18 disabled persons on Sunday 1 October 2023.
Region 2 - Grand Port visited inmates of Toujours Joyeux Autrement Capable School situated at Rose Belle. Sevadals also helped in completing electrical and painting works and cleaning the yard of the newly erected building which will be used as a school and a home for disabled students.
Region 3 - Moka/Flacq were present at Eastern Welfare Association for Disabled (EWAD) school where 38 disabled children from the said school and from ARGY school were served.
Region 6 - Port Louis organised its annual Disability day at Foyer Trochetia situated at Pointe Aux Sables where 70 inmates were served.
Region 7 - Pamplemousses conducted its Disability day at SSR Botanical garden where around 50 persons with disabilities were present.
Region 8 - Rivière du Rempart visited an amputee residing in the village of Poudre d’Or.
The events comprise of activities, songs, and games, in a way to express love and support to our brothers and sisters with alternative abilities.
Snacks, lunch, desserts, and beverages were served to all participants throughout the events.
A token of love was presented to all the disabled brothers and sisters as a gesture of our deep appreciation and affection.
