SSSGC Zone1 West Indies-Free Medical Camp on Sunday, November 20, 2022
In commemorating Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s 97th Birth Anniversary, the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council of Zone 1, West Indies (SSSGC-WI) hosted a free Medical Camp in Gasparillo, a town in southwest Trinidad. The camp was held at the Gasparillo Mosque, 32 Bonne Aventure Road, Gasparillo, on Sunday, November 20, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
A collaborative effort. To help address the medical needs of the local community, the SSSGC-WI conducted the medical camp in close collaboration with the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago, the Trinidad and Tobago Medical Association, the Reform Community Development Council, and the Gasparillo Mosque.
Free, wide-ranging services. More than 250 patients benefited from the camp's wide-ranging services, provided free of charge and, most importantly, with love:
Dental Screening
Blood Glucose Testing
Blood Pressure Testing
Pap Smears
Vision Screening
Holistic Counseling
Administering the Influenza vaccine
Colorectal Cancer Screening
Other services: (Consultation with General Practitioners and Medical Consultants, Fitness Tests, and Cancer Education by Medical Professionals).
Medications including pain relief supplies, were provided free of cost to all who needed them.
Service with Love. More than 60 volunteers supported the medical camp, upholding the goal of loving service to mankind, as taught by Swami. In addition to medical services, the camp treated all participants to a hearty breakfast, sumptuous lunch, fresh fruits, and healthy drinks--including water, freshly squeezed fruit punch, and sugar cane juice!
It was indeed a blessed day, not only for the patients but also for the volunteers and organizers--a day spent putting into practice Swami's dictum of Love All, Serve All!
